Cervical Cancer


What is it?

It is cancer of the cervix which is the mouth of the womb.
It tend to invade surrounding tissue or spread to other parts of the body.

Symptoms

1. Vaginal bleed.
2. Pelvic pain.
3. Pain during sexual intercourse.
4. Post sex bleeding.
5. Vaginal discharge.

Cause

It is due to infection with the human papilloma virus- HPV; more than 90% of the patient.
Smoking has also being link with Cervical cancer.

Types

1. Squamous cell carcinoma 90%
2. Adenocarcinoma 10%

Diagnosis

1. This is done mainly via biopsy.
2. Colposcopy

Prevention

1. Good sexual hygiene.
2. HPV Vaccine.
3. Use of condoms
4. Cervical screening via pap smear.
5. Nutrition; vitamins A, B, C and E.

Before treatment is started the cancer has to be stage.

Treatment

1. Surgery.
2. Chemotherapy.
3. Radiotherapy.

Prognosis

This depends on the staging of the cancer. It tell how severe is the cancer.

    ” my 2 yr niece at some point of time collapses on random occasions but with all the medical treatment the same.act seems to be persistent” its a worrying.situation

    what could be the problem???

    1. Morning, there are various reasons why some one may collapsed.
      1. It could be seizures.
      2. It could be a heart condition.
      3.It my be a simple faint, which has multiple cause from not eating properly to the place being hot.

      I hope I could have shed some light on the issue.
